Bio

Kathleen was a full tenured professor of art at Mount Ida College before it closed in May of 2018 because of financial difficulties.  Previously, she taught at Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, Ma. Framingham State College, Art Institute of Boston and Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Her expertise is in three dimensions and space perception but she has taught courses in Two and Three Dimensional Design, Anatomy and Figurative Sculpture, Anatomy and Figure Drawing, Basic Drawing and Advanced Drawing, Drawing Concepts, Color Theory, Figurative Sculpture, Mold Making, Sculpture 2 and History of Modern and Contemporary Art. Her teaching encompasses imparting knowledge of art through honing craft, and concept building along with sharing a thorough knowledge of history of art overtime and how it affects current art making practices.

Kathleen received a Master of Fine Arts from Indiana University in Bloomington and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Boston University.

Driscoll is an accomplished nationally known artist who has shown her art in exhibitions for over twenty years. For many years she built large temporary outdoor sculptures on the grounds of the DeCordova Museum, Chesterwood, the Boston Commons, East Boston, The Forest Hills Educational Trust, Harvard College, Revolving Museum, Art in the Park in Worcester, for the Bellevue Arts Commission in the state of Washington and on the grounds of Longwood University in Virginia.

Along with teaching and making art Kathleen has been invited to panel discussions, and given many lecturers on the experimentation and development of her work. She has been given grants and awards for her work including the Berkshire Taconic Foundation Grant and has been highlighted and reviewed in many newspapers and periodicals including The Boston Globe, Boston Herald, Art New England and Sculpture Magazine.

While at Mount Ida College, she also held the title of Art Foundation Coordinator and Gallery Director and Coordinator. She developed the gallery into a professional exhibition space highlighting local, national and international artists and designers. She curates, writes and is a skillful installer of exhibitions. Kathleen sees her role in an educational setting as a key supporter of art and artists in the Boston area.
